About The Position

The Environmental Sanitor cleans and sanitizes production equipment and environmental areas in the Fresh Kitchen. The role includes disassembling, cleaning, sanitizing, and reassembling detachable production equipment; using various chemicals; and keeping kitchen, trash dock, storage, and other areas clean and organized. The Sanitor transports racks, tubs, cardboard, and equipment, including with a forklift or pallet jack, and helps maintain sanitation supplies and equipment. The position may also assist with housekeeping and other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must be able to push or pull heavy equipment.
• Must be able to obtain a forklift license and operate a forklift.
• Must demonstrate work habits consistent with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and safe working habits.
• Must frequently lift more than 30 pounds.
• Must have general knowledge of machine operation.
• Must use creative thinking for troubleshooting.
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Must have good human relations skills and work well with others as a team player.
• Must be able to work any shift, including nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours.
• Must have excellent attendance and punctuality.
• Must be able to perform steady, productive work for an extended period.
• Must be able to work efficiently with little or no supervision.
• Must be able to follow detailed written and verbal instructions and communicate effectively.
• Must demonstrate enthusiasm, initiative, pride in work, and commitment to Publix and its mission.

Responsibilities

• Disassemble, clean, sanitize, and reassemble detachable production equipment.
• Apply appropriate chemicals to equipment and environmental locations.
• Organize and clean kitchen, trash dock, and storage areas.
• Transport racks, tubs, cardboard, and equipment to designated areas using a forklift and/or pallet jack.
• Clean walls, vents, doors, drains, and garbage cans.
• Work with multiple departments to meet their sanitation needs.
• Organize air and water hoses and rinse empty drums.
• Help maintain the chemical storage area.
• Operate and maintain the floor scrubber.
• Assist with housekeeping duties and other tasks as assigned.
• Assist team members in other areas when needed.
