About The Position

The Environmental Sanitor cleans and sanitizes production equipment and facility areas at Publix’s Fresh Kitchen in Deerfield. The role includes disassembling and reassembling equipment, applying chemicals, maintaining kitchen and storage areas, moving materials with a forklift or pallet jack, operating a floor scrubber, and supporting sanitation and housekeeping needs across departments.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must be able to push or pull heavy equipment.
• Must be able to obtain a forklift license and operate a forklift.
• Must demonstrate excellent work habits in line with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and safe working habits.
• Must be able to frequently lift more than 30 pounds.
• Must possess general knowledge of machine operation.
• Must be able to use creative thinking for troubleshooting.
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Must have good human relations skills and be able to work well with others as a team player.
• Must be able to work any shift, including nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours.
• Must have excellent attendance and punctuality.

Responsibilities

• Disassemble, clean, sanitize, and reassemble detachable production equipment.
• Apply chemicals to equipment and environmental locations.
• Organize and clean the kitchen, trash dock, and storage areas.
• Transport racks, tubs, cardboard, and equipment to designated areas using a forklift and/or pallet jack.
• Maintain the cleanliness of walls, vents, doors, drains, and garbage cans.
• Work with multiple departments to meet their sanitation needs.
• Organize air and water hoses.
• Rinse out empty drums.
• Help maintain the chemical storage area.
• Operate and maintain the floor scrubber.
• Assist with housekeeping duties and other duties as assigned.

Benefits

• Holiday bonus based on continuous employment: 15 hours of pay in the first year, one week’s pay in the second year, and two weeks’ pay in subsequent years, subject to remaining employed through the bonus check issue date.
• Weekend differential of $2.00 per hour for hours worked from 12:00 a.m. Saturday through 11:59 p.m. Sunday.
• Night differential of $0.75 per hour for associates regularly scheduled to work any hours between midnight and 3:00 a.m., with specified shift exclusions.
