About The Position

The Environmental Sanitor cleans and sanitizes production equipment and environmental areas at the Fresh Kitchen in Lakeland, Ontario. The role involves disassembling, cleaning, sanitizing, and reassembling detachable production equipment; using chemicals on equipment and in environmental locations; and maintaining cleanliness throughout kitchen, trash dock, and storage areas. The position also transports racks, tubs, cardboard, and equipment using a forklift or pallet jack; maintains walls, vents, doors, drains, and garbage cans; and supports sanitation needs across multiple departments. Additional duties include organizing air and water hoses, rinsing empty drums, maintaining the chemical storage area, operating and maintaining a floor scrubber, assisting with housekeeping, and completing other assigned duties.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must be able to push or pull heavy equipment.
• Must be able to obtain a forklift license and operate a forklift.
• Must demonstrate work habits consistent with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and safe working practices.
• Must be able to lift more than 30 pounds frequently.
• Must possess general knowledge of machine operation.
• Must be able to use creative thinking for troubleshooting.
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Must have good interpersonal skills and work well with others as a team player.
• Must be able to work any shift, including nights, weekends, and holidays, and work extended hours.
• Must have excellent attendance and punctuality.
• Must be able to perform steady, productive work for an extended period.
• Must be able to work efficiently with little or no supervision.
• Must be able to follow detailed written and verbal instructions and communicate effectively.
• Must show enthusiasm, initiative, pride in work, and commitment to Publix and its mission.

Responsibilities

• Disassemble, clean, sanitize, and reassemble detachable production equipment.
• Apply chemicals to production equipment and environmental locations.
• Organize and clean kitchen, trash dock, and storage areas.
• Transport racks, tubs, cardboard, and equipment to designated areas using a forklift and/or pallet jack.
• Maintain the cleanliness of walls, vents, doors, drains, and garbage cans.
• Work with multiple departments to meet sanitation needs.
• Organize air and water hoses and rinse empty drums.
• Help maintain the chemical storage area.
• Operate and maintain a floor scrubber.
• Assist with housekeeping duties and other assigned tasks.
• Assist team members in other areas as needed.
