About The Position

The Environmental Sanitor cleans and sanitizes production equipment and environmental areas at Publix’s Fresh Kitchen in Lakeland. The role includes disassembling and reassembling detachable equipment, applying chemicals, cleaning kitchen and storage areas, moving materials and equipment, and supporting sanitation and housekeeping needs across departments. The position may involve operating a forklift, pallet jack, and floor scrubber.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years old.
Must be able to push or pull heavy equipment.
Must be able to obtain a forklift license and operate a forklift.
Must demonstrate work habits consistent with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and safe working practices.
Must frequently lift more than 30 pounds.
Must possess general knowledge of machine operation.
Must be able to use creative thinking to troubleshoot.
Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
Must have good interpersonal skills and work well as part of a team.
Must be able to work any shift, including nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours.
Must have excellent attendance and punctuality.
Must be able to assist team members in other areas.
Must be able to perform steady, productive work for an extended period.
Must be able to work efficiently with little or no supervision.
Must be able to follow detailed written and verbal instructions.
Must be able to communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

Disassemble, clean, sanitize, and reassemble detachable production equipment.
Apply chemicals to equipment and environmental locations.
Organize and clean the kitchen, trash dock, and storage areas.
Transport racks, tubs, cardboard, and equipment to specified areas using a forklift and/or pallet jack.
Clean walls, vents, doors, drains, and garbage cans.
Work with multiple departments to meet sanitation needs and organize air and water hoses.
Rinse empty drums.
Help maintain the chemical storage area.
Operate and maintain a floor scrubber.
Assist with housekeeping duties and perform other duties as assigned.

Benefits

Year-end Holiday Bonus: 15 hours of pay in the first year of continuous employment, one week's pay in the second year, and two weeks' pay in subsequent years, subject to the stated employment-through-issue-date condition for the first two years.
Weekend differential of $2.00 per hour for hours worked from 12:00 a.m. Saturday through 11:59 p.m. Sunday.
