About The Position

The Environmental Sanitor maintains cleanliness in the Thermal Processing Department—including smokehouses, blast chillers, and coolers—and production rooms, including floors, ceilings, walls, vents, doors, and drains. The role involves safely dispensing and using chemicals, following standard operating procedures, and preventing damage to equipment during cleaning, including damage to electrical wiring and control panels. The position also applies various chemicals to equipment and environmental locations and performs other duties as assigned. The role requires the ability to work any shift, including nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours, and to perform steady, productive work for extended periods with little or no supervision. Associates may need to learn and perform all positions and assist team members in other areas. Publix provides a year-end Holiday Bonus in November for eligible associates who remain employed through the bonus check's issue date. In the first year of continuous employment, the bonus equals 15 hours of pay; in the second year, it equals one week's pay; in subsequent years, it equals two weeks' pay. Associates also receive a $2.00-per-hour weekend differential for hours worked from 12:00 a.m. Saturday through 11:59 p.m. Sunday.

Requirements

Be at least 18 years old.
Be able to use industrial-strength chemicals.
Understand and demonstrate all Lock Out/Tag Out procedures.
Demonstrate work habits consistent with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and safe working habits.
Frequently lift more than 50 pounds and pull racks weighing more than 100 pounds.
Be able to work in a fast-paced environment and perform steady, productive work for an extended period.
Have good human relations skills, work well with others, and be a team player.
Be able to work any shift, including nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours.
Have excellent attendance and punctuality.
Be willing to assist other team members in other areas.
Work efficiently with little or no supervision.
Follow detailed written and verbal instructions.
Possess basic math skills and communicate effectively.
Show enthusiasm, initiative, and pride in work, and commitment to Publix and its mission.
