About The Position

Maintains the cleanliness level needed to provide a safe, clean working environment at the WinCo Foods Distribution Center. The role involves warehouse sanitation, waste sorting and disposal, spill cleanup, recycling, pest monitoring, removal of damaged or contaminated product, and maintaining safe, sanitary storage areas. The Sanitor also operates specialized equipment to clean floors and retrieve product, follows applicable safety procedures and OSHA standards, and completes assigned tasks throughout the shift.

Requirements

• Able to work in environments with concrete floors and temperatures ranging from -12°F in the freezer to 34°F in high-humidity chilled areas, as well as ambient-temperature, non-air-conditioned warehouse areas.
• Able to work various shifts and days in a 24/7 operation, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Demonstrates initiative and self-direction, can multitask, and manages time effectively to meet deadlines.
• Able to safely and efficiently operate specialized equipment, including rack retrieval equipment, a man-up forklift, propane refueling equipment, boom and scissor lifts, and pressure washers.
• Able to meet certification requirements for powered industrial equipment.
• Able to perform repetitive work accurately while remaining mentally alert.
• Able to stand, walk, and move rapidly throughout a shift.
• Able to bend, stoop, twist, and turn frequently.
• Able to reach, lift, and maneuver objects of varying dimensions and weights, up to approximately 50 pounds frequently and 80–100 pounds occasionally, from floor level to overhead.
• Able to learn and memorize the warehouse's physical layout and operating procedures.
• Comprehensive verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Collect and empty warehouse trash containers, sort waste according to container designation, dispose of recyclables appropriately, and clean or replace containers.
• Clean spills from damaged products and follow safety guidelines for handling and disposing of spilled materials.
• Monitor and replace mop buckets with clean water as needed.
• Remove plastic, string, sticks, cardboard, and other debris from aisles, product slots, dock areas, and battery storage areas to keep paths clear and safe.
• Gather and load broken pallets and bins containing plastic onto designated trailers for recycling at the Reclamation Center.
• Refill propane tanks, replace burned-out dock lights, restock wrappers with shrink wrap, and replace string-cutter blades as needed.
• Unload WinCo plastic pallet trailers and maintain marked plastic pallet slots.
• Clean spilled products in bulk food and non-boxed product sections.
• Conduct routine daily spot-checks for pests, monitor and replace rodent traps, and communicate issues to supervisors.
• Maintain water drains in high-humidity storage rooms and sanitation areas, and report drainage issues to facility maintenance.
• Remove ice buildup from freezer doors, floors, ceilings, and walls to eliminate slip hazards.
• Promptly remove damaged or contaminated product from designated bins, load it onto trailers for processing at the Reclamation Center, and sanitize or replace bins as needed.
• Identify unnecessary or excessive product disposals and communicate concerns to supervisors.
• Retrieve case product from reserve slots or racking up to 32 feet high using a man-up forklift, following applicable equipment certification safety standards.
• Sweep and scrub concrete floors using a powered sweeper/scrubber, and pick up standing water in perishable areas.
• Deep-clean ground-level storage slots as needed by removing product and debris and scrubbing and sanitizing surrounding areas.
• Follow safety procedures and policies, comply with OSHA standards, and maintain a clean, neat, and orderly work area.
• Complete assignments on daily task sheets, remain focused throughout the shift, and meet cleanliness standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned or needed.
