About The Position
Housekeeping positions provide a clean, sanitary, and aesthetically pleasing environment for patients, visitors, and staff at UNC Hospitals. The role cleans and disinfects hospital areas according to prescribed procedures and standards and does not provide direct patient care. This is a full-time, onsite position in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, with an evening work schedule and 40 standard hours per week.
Requirements
- No education required.
- No licensure or certification required.
- No prior experience required.
Responsibilities
- Clean, dust, disinfect, mop, restock, remove trash from, and inspect occupied patient rooms.
- Clean discharge rooms promptly for incoming patients.
- Clean support and critical care areas, including nurses’ stations, lounges, intensive care units, and isolation rooms.
- Enter data into the bed tracking system.
- Inspect ancillary and patient areas and projects.
- May serve as a team leader by planning and scheduling tasks, assigning work, training staff, managing bed tracking, and inspecting hospital areas.
- Strip, wax, dust mop, and damp mop floors; vacuum, bonnet, and extract carpets.
- Train and instruct new housekeepers in hospital policies and procedures.
