About The Position

This is a temporary assignment for an Entry Communications Technician within Enterprise Technology. The role involves providing semi-skilled and installer helper level installation of Telecommunications cabling for the University of Texas at Austin. The assignment is expected to continue until August 31, 2027, and is benefits-eligible. The selected candidate must possess a current/valid Texas driver's license and maintain a clean driving record. The position requires working constructively as a team member, exercising good safety habits, and maintaining regular and punctual attendance. The hourly rate for this position is $20.00.

Requirements

High School graduate or GED.
Work constructively as a team member.
Exercise good safety habits.
Experience installing inside plant communications cabling and wireless access points.
Experience in commercial construction work.
Regular and punctual attendance.
Class "C" operator's driver's license.
Provide a current three-year driving record from the current state of residence.
Obtain a Texas driver's license within 30 days of becoming a Texas resident (if not currently a Texas resident).

Nice To Haves

Experience installing inside plant communications cabling and wireless access points.
Experience in commercial construction work.

Responsibilities

Install Telecom cabling in new and existing structures in enclosed and cramped spaces or at heights.
Operate mechanical and electrical equipment used in the installation of cabling in close proximity to high voltage and high pressure steam pipes.
Complete Reports of time, materials, and other necessary items required for the assigned tasks.
Set up and dismantle equipment.
Operate a UT vehicle.
