About The Position
This is a temporary assignment for an Entry Communications Technician in Enterprise Technology. The role involves semi-skilled and installer helper level installation of Telecommunications cabling for the University of Texas at Austin. The assignment is expected to continue until August 31, 2027, and is benefits-eligible. The selected candidate must possess a current/valid Texas driver's license and maintain a clean driving record.
Requirements
- High School graduate or GED.
- Work constructively as a team member.
- Exercise good safety habits.
- Experience installing inside plant communications cabling and wireless access points.
- Experience in commercial construction work.
- Regular and punctual attendance.
- Class "C" operator's driver's license.
- Current three-year driving record from the current state of residence.
- Obtain a Texas driver's license within 30 days of becoming a Texas resident (if not currently a Texas resident).
Nice To Haves
- Experience installing inside plant communications cabling and wireless access points.
- Experience in commercial construction work.
Responsibilities
- Install Telecom cabling in new and existing structures in enclosed and cramped spaces or at heights.
- Operate mechanical and electrical equipment used in the installation of cabling in close proximity to high voltage and high pressure steam pipes.
- Complete Reports of time, materials, and other necessary items required for the assigned tasks.
- Set up and dismantle equipment.
- Operate a UT vehicle.
