About The Position

Oregon State University’s University Information and Technology is hiring one part-time Enterprise Data Services Student Assistant to support reporting, analytics, customer requests, and day-to-day data operations. The student will work alongside analysts and report developers and may assist with ServiceNow request intake, customer support and education, security and access requests, requirements gathering and note-taking, scheduling and administrative work, data validation and testing, documentation, and process improvement. The role may provide hands-on experience with Power BI and Workday reporting.

The position offers the opportunity to support enterprise data and reporting users while developing skills in business intelligence, customer engagement, requirements gathering, and data governance. OSU identifies communication, critical thinking, teamwork, and technology as primary career-readiness skills developed in the role.

This is a hybrid position requiring the ability to work on the OSU campus in Corvallis. Hybrid work depends on assignments, team needs, and supervisor approval. Work is computer-based and uses university systems, reporting tools, email, Teams, ServiceNow, and productivity tools. The schedule is coordinated with the supervisor, with up to 24 hours per week. Applicants must be available at least 20 hours per week during normal OSU business hours, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and have campus availability with sufficient overlap for customer support, collaboration, meetings, and projects.

The position is designated critical or security-sensitive. The incumbent must successfully complete a Criminal History Check and be determined position qualified under OSU Standard 576-055-0000 et seq. Incumbents must self-report convictions; employees in Youth Programs may be subject to additional Criminal History Checks every two years. OSU will review the National Sex Offender Public website before hire. Job offers are contingent upon final Human Resources approval.

Requirements

• Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study.
• Must meet academic standing requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment.
• Must meet the applicable minimum enrollment standard: high school students must be regularly enrolled in high school or participating in a home-schooling program; undergraduate and post-baccalaureate students must take 6 credit hours per term; undergraduate international students, 12 credit hours per term; graduate students officially admitted to Graduate School, 5 credit hours per term; graduate international students officially admitted to Graduate School, 9 credit hours per term. International students may qualify with fewer hours if OIS approves a reduced course load and provides it to the Student Employment Center.

Responsibilities

• Assist with intake, triage, tracking, fulfillment, and documentation of ServiceNow requests and support tickets.
• Manage communication between users and the technical team to support timely, complete resolution; clarify needs and gather reporting information.
• Communicate with requestors to clarify needs and gather information needed to fulfill reporting and data requests.
• Support intake and requirements gathering for enterprise report development.
• Perform data validation, quality assurance, and testing to help ensure accurate and reliable reporting.
• Use and maintain process documentation, email templates, job aids, and user guidance.
• Support operational reporting, data cleanup, and process improvement activities.
• Participate in team meetings, project work, and planning activities.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
