About The Position

Dave is looking for an experienced Engineering Manager to lead their Marketing Technology team. This team is responsible for building and maintaining the systems, platforms, and integrations that enable Dave to connect with, engage, and retain its millions of members. The role involves leading a squad that collaborates closely with Marketing, Product, and Engineering departments to support lifecycle campaigns, personalized messaging, experimentation, and the ongoing development of Dave’s marketing website. Key responsibilities include enhancing site performance, discoverability, and SEO, with a focus on incorporating AI-driven strategies. This is a highly collaborative position offering significant ownership, where the manager will contribute to technical direction, team growth, and the development of systems critical for member acquisition, engagement, and retention.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of software engineering experience
  • 1.5+ years of engineering management experience
  • Experience building highly available, scalable, and low-latency systems
  • Strong technical judgment and the ability to guide architecture discussions across larger initiatives
  • Experience hiring, developing, and supporting high-performing teams
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to engage in both technical and business discussions with cross-functional stakeholders
  • Experience operating in a fast-growing environment with evolving priorities

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and grow a team of engineers focused on marketing technology and web platform initiatives
  • Partner with Product and Marketing stakeholders to shape roadmap priorities, technical direction, and execution plans
  • Guide the development of scalable systems that support personalized messaging, campaign automation, experimentation, and lifecycle marketing
  • Collaborate with Lead and Staff Engineers on architecture decisions, engineering standards, and thoughtful prioritization of technical debt
  • Improve the performance, reliability, and discoverability of Dave’s marketing website, including SEO and AI-driven search strategies
  • Create an environment where engineers can do high-quality work, receive actionable feedback, and continue developing their careers
  • Help the team make thoughtful trade-offs between short-term delivery needs and long-term platform health
  • Remove blockers, improve team processes, and strengthen collaboration across Engineering, Product, and Marketing
  • Contribute technically when needed through code reviews, architectural guidance, and hands-on problem solving
  • Use metrics and operational insights to inform decisions around product quality, engineering health, and platform reliability
