About The Position
The Engineer is responsible for upkeep, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting of ice machines, refrigeration units, air handling units, and other general maintenance needs. Work must meet Shaner Hotels’ and the respective franchise’s standards. The role calls for a customer-service-oriented employee who is willing to go the extra mile to create a memorable guest experience. It requires a strong background in commercial refrigeration, knowledge of ice machines, industrial chiller systems, and air handling units, and basic working knowledge of general maintenance procedures. This is a full-time position with benefits; evening, weekend, and holiday hours may be required.
Requirements
- At least two years of experience; hotel experience is preferred.
- Strong background in commercial refrigeration.
- Knowledge of ice machines, industrial chiller systems, and air handling units.
- Basic working knowledge of general maintenance procedures.
- Knowledge of mechanical equipment critical to building operations.
- Knowledge of proper chemical handling and disposal.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet work-assignment deadlines.
- Ability to interact positively with hotel personnel and provide prompt solutions to problems.
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Availability for a flexible schedule, including varied shifts, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities
- Perform upkeep, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting on ice machines, refrigeration units, air handling units, and other equipment.
- Handle guest complaints and work to ensure guest satisfaction.
- Maintain quality and cleanliness standards during daily assignments.
- Follow house, safety, departmental, and security rules and procedures.
- Assist with inventories as scheduled.
- Follow the maintenance program and cleaning schedule.
- Prioritize and complete work assignments within deadlines.
- Provide prompt solutions to problems and interact positively with hotel personnel.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
