Requirements

  • Two years of experience in general office work which included interviewing the public; or Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Meet the PA residency requirement.
  • Be able to perform essential job functions.
  • Submission of criminal history reports (conditional offer of employment).
  • Pass a background investigation.

Responsibilities

  • Determine eligibility for Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) benefits by interviewing applicants, reviewing information, and entering data accurately.
  • Gather documentation, validate details, and manage pending applications.
  • Conduct applicant interviews to gather information needed to determine eligibility.
  • Enter application details into the Electronic Client Information System (eCIS) to process LIHEAP benefits.
  • Validate data by checking documents to confirm eligibility.
  • Collect income details using the 90-day or 12-month method to ensure fair evaluation.
  • Track pending applications, file documents, and scan materials following procedures.
  • Examine mailed applications and process them according to LIHEAP guidelines.

Benefits

  • Seasonal, full-time employment (37.5 hours per week)
  • This is a full-time, seasonal position that typically runs for 6-8 months during the fall and winter seasons to assist clients in the process of applying for heating assistance.
  • Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch. This may change based on operational needs.
  • Overtime and travel as operationally necessary
  • This position may be eligible to telework part time.
  • If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Johnstown, PA.
