About The Position

This is a full-time, in-office position responsible for the operational oversight of the Good Samaritan Hospital Emergency Medical Services System (EMSS), which provides pre-hospital emergency care 24/7 to 33 communities, private ambulance companies, and 9 Associate Hospitals. The role involves coordinating educational needs, quality assurance programs, community outreach, and the Critical Care Paramedic Certification Program. It also serves as a liaison for hospital-based programs interfacing with EMSS, coordinates community health fair participation, and assists in developing educational programs for emergency rescue workers. The position implements and maintains the Quality Improvement Program for EMSS, including data collection and reporting to the state of Illinois, and coordinates educational needs for paramedics, ECRNs, Trauma Nurses, and medical staff related to EMSS. Additionally, it provides operational oversight for the EMSS and Paramedic Certification Program department, including performance feedback, budgeting, and ensuring accountability to Advocate Healthcare's behavioral expectations. The role requires staying current with Illinois EMS regulations, updating leadership, and participating in relevant committees.

Requirements

• RN with 3-5 years EMS experience or EMT-P with 5-7 years EMS experience
• 3-4 years clinical experience
• EMT-P in the State of Illinois
• Current ACLS, PHTLS, TNS, TNCC, PALS/PEPP as related to field

Responsibilities

• Coordinates the development and implementation of educational needs of the EMS System, including initial and ongoing education for pre-hospital personnel and hospital RNs.
• Coordinates the implementation and maintenance of Quality Assurance Programs for the Good Samaritan Hospital EMS System to provide feedback for process improvement and educational opportunities.
• Coordinates community outreach or hospital-based public relations events, such as AED Public Access Programs.
• Coordinates the development and implementation of the Critical Care Paramedic Certification Program in cooperation with the State of Illinois.
• Coordinates community outreach programs related to EMSS/Good Samaritan Hospital and the communities served.
• Acts as a liaison for hospital-based programs that interface Good Samaritan Hospital with EMSS.
• Coordinates Good Samaritan Hospital EMSS in community health fair participation.
• Assists in the development of educational programs for the communities' emergency rescue workers.
• Implements and maintains the Good Samaritan Hospital Quality Improvement Program for EMSS.
• Coordinates the collection and reporting of state-mandated quality improvement data to the state of Illinois for both EMSS and Trauma.
• Coordinates quality improvement information to benefit the educational needs of EMSS care givers.
• Coordinates the educational needs of EMSS providers and staff members, including paramedics, Emergency Communication Registered Nurses (ECRNs), Trauma Nurses (TNS), and medical staff related to EMSS.
• Provides operational oversight for the EMSS and Paramedic Certification Program department.
• Provides ongoing and annual performance feedback for associates in the department.
• Provides input for the annual budgeting process.
• Maintains the operational budget.
• Holds associates accountable to the behavioral expectations defined by Advocate Healthcare.
• Provides direction and oversight for EMSS by staying current with regulations governing the emergency medical system in the state of Illinois.
• Maintains knowledge of state regulations related to EMS practice and education.
• Updates administrative leadership on changes to regulations and recommends resources to achieve/maintain regulatory standards.
• Participates in local, regional, and state-level committees as necessary.
