About The Position

The Utah State University Institute for Disability Research, Policy & Practice EmployAbility Clinic seeks an Employment Specialist to provide consumer-driven employment support and teach pre-employment skills to individuals with disabilities. The position is primarily based in Brigham City, Utah, and involves working one-on-one with clients in an internship program offered three times a year during the Summer, Fall, and Spring semesters. The Summer program runs eight weeks; the Fall and Spring programs run ten weeks, with possible several-week gaps between semesters. The posting is hiring for the Spring session, scheduled January 19 through March 26. The schedule is flexible, and employment specialist training must be completed online before working with clients. The role is hourly and contingent upon funding.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Asynchronous Workplace Supports Training Certificate, or willingness to complete it upon hire.
• Access to reliable transportation to and from the work site.
• Good professional verbal and written communication skills.

• Successful completion of a background check.
• Flexible schedule availability.

Responsibilities

• Work one-on-one with clients with disabilities.
• Conduct in-depth employment skills assessments.
• Teach and model social skills.
• Provide job development activities, including resume building, interview skills, employer encounters, and job tries.
• Provide on-the-job coaching.
• Write thorough and professional client reports.
• Build relationships with local employers.
• Complete Employment Specialist training online before working with clients.
