About The Position

BAYADA Home Health Care is seeking compassionate Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to provide one-on-one support in community settings to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, including Autism, Cerebral Palsy, and Down Syndrome. The role helps clients build life skills and confidence, participate in community activities, and work toward personal goals. Support may include spending time on clients’ preferred hobbies, helping with errands and appointments, teaching and encouraging skills, and providing personal care as needed. The position offers flexible part-time scheduling on the Big Island, with opportunities in Hilo, Kea'au, Mountain View, Pepe'ekeo, Ocean View, Waimea, and surrounding communities. Pay starts at $20 per hour, paid weekly, with opportunities for higher rates when supporting clients with more complex needs. A $1,000 sign-on bonus is available. BAYADA provides training, ongoing support, professional development opportunities, and clinical support.

Requirements

At least one year of experience supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).
Ability to transport clients to community activities.
High school diploma or equivalent.
At least 18 years of age.
Ability to read and write in English.

Relevant experience may include supporting individuals with disabilities, working in behavioral health or special education, providing dementia or Alzheimer's care, or caring for a family member.

Responsibilities

Spend time with clients engaging in their favorite hobbies and activities.
Participate in community integration activities, errands, and appointments.
