Walmart•Hampstead, MD

About The Position

The Emerging Store Manager (ESM) is a developmental leadership assignment intended to prepare associates for potential Store Manager opportunities in Walmart US store operations. The role provides training and development across retail operations, people leadership, merchandising, financial management, customer experience, and community engagement. The assignment is expected to last no longer than 12 to 18 months, but has no guaranteed timeframe or guarantee of placement as a Store Manager. Associates must maintain mobility within their assigned region for Store Manager applications and potential placement. Progression depends on completing developmental milestones and competency assessments; if a Store Manager role is not secured within the expected period, next steps will depend on performance and business needs and may include placement in another role at a different level. The ESM learns to support store financial performance, sales, staffing, customer service, associate development, community outreach, safety, asset protection, and operational execution. The role assists in implementing store objectives, business plans, staffing and succession plans, and company policies and standards. It works with stakeholders across the organization and supports continuous improvement, customer-focused results, and a workplace where associates can thrive. The position is based at the Walmart location at 2320 No. Hanover Pike, Hampstead, Maryland. The annual salary range is $85,000 to $120,000, with additional annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Certain positions may also include regional pay zone or complex-structure compensation.
