Emergency Medicine-NP/PA
About The Position
Provides clinical care in a combined emergency department and urgent care setting in Rhinelander, Wisconsin. This locum tenens role covers 12 twelve-hour shifts per month, scheduled from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. or 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., beginning January 12, 2027, and continuing ongoing. The service setting is outpatient, with clinical-only coverage. The facility sees an average of 12–15 patients daily and 15,000–20,000 emergency department and urgent care visits annually. Admissions are required. The department has 15 beds, with 1–2 physicians on staff at all times, two advanced practice clinicians working staggered daytime shifts, and support from 2–3 RNs and one office staff member. Epic is the electronic medical record. Hospital privileges are required, and temporary privileges are available. Travel, lodging, and malpractice insurance are covered by the agency.
Requirements
- Board certified.
- Licensed in Wisconsin or eligible through IMLC.
- Current BLS, ACLS, ATLS, and PALS certifications.
- At least 2 years of emergency medicine experience in a trauma level I–III facility.
- Hospital privileges required; temporary privileges are available.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive medical care to patients in the combined emergency department and urgent care setting.
- Collaborate with physicians and other advanced practice clinicians to support efficient patient flow and quality care.
- Manage an average daily volume of 12–15 patients, including acute and non-acute presentations.
- Perform emergency procedures and treatments appropriate to each patient's condition.
- Document patient encounters accurately in the Epic electronic medical record system.
