The BHN has six Emergency Departments and three Convenient Care locations and offers three employment tracks. The combination track provides care at four emergency departments and two urgent/convenient care clinics, with shifts scheduled at nearby regional locations and the ability to work at all sites. The Convenient Care Only track evaluates and treats non-emergent medical conditions, performs minor procedures, and interprets ancillary tests. Practitioners must treat urgent conditions and recognize emergencies requiring referral to a higher level of care. Prior Emergency Department experience is required, or practitioners may transition to this track after working in the combination track. The Independent Practice track involves working independently at a Critical Access Hospital ED, with attending physician consultation as needed. Practitioners assess patients, provide quality care and appropriate disposition, stabilize patients using necessary lifesaving procedures, and handle medical workups and radiology interpretations. They must be comfortable transferring patients, discharging them, or admitting them to the critical access hospital. Independent Practice requires a post-graduate emergency medicine fellowship or prior experience working independently in an emergency department. The role is part of an established group of physicians and Advanced Practice Clinicians. Candidates may change tracks as they gain experience or if their schedule preferences change. Previous experience in Emergency Medicine and/or Fast Track/Urgent Care is preferred.
