About The Position

Medstar is hiring Emergency Calltakers to serve as the first point of contact for people calling for emergency and non-emergency assistance. Calltakers answer calls, gather critical information, reassure callers, provide immediate guidance, and quickly relay accurate details to response crews. The position works closely with clinical partners and dispatchers to help set emergency care in motion. The role is part of Medstar’s Communication Center and includes paid on-the-job training.

Requirements

• High school diploma.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work and multitask in a stressful environment.
• Ability to work both as part of a team and independently.
• Strong typing skills, measured through required testing.
• Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills, measured through required testing.

Nice To Haves

• Previous call center or dispatch experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Answer emergency and non-emergency calls.
• Collect critical information and guide callers through immediate steps.
