About The Position

Knowledge Services is hiring an Eligibility Specialist to support the FSSA/Division of Family Resources (DFR) at 1531 S Curry Pike, Bloomington, Indiana. The role assists with processing applications and documents for Indiana residents seeking or receiving public assistance, including TANF cash assistance, SNAP, and Medicaid. Eligibility Specialists gather and verify information, review program requirements with clients, and use an automated program to determine eligibility. The position offers an extensive training program and potential for promotion. It pays $18.00 per hour and has a 37.5-hour work week, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. Paid time off and benefits are offered.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Solid computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office.
Basic math skills.
Case management skills.
Ability to work independently as a reliable, dependable self-starter.
Strong customer service background and a professional demeanor.

Nice To Haves

Highly organized and analytical team player.
Previous Case Manager experience.
Bachelor's or Associate degree in Counseling or Social Services.
Two years of experience in a social service environment, state or local government, pertaining to employment or training programs.
Previous experience as a Case Manager, Eligibility Specialist, Eligibility Associate, Office Manager, Call Center Customer Service Specialist, or Client Specialist.

Responsibilities

Gather data for relevant assistance programs from clients, face-to-face or by phone.
Verify that information is gathered accurately and meets state policies.
Obtain release forms and medical records as needed.
Verify income, assets, and other financial or legal documents.
Review regulations and program requirements with clients.
Use an automated program to determine eligibility for state assistance programs.
Enter data into the state database.
Respond to inquiries in a timely manner by phone or email.
