About The Position

The Electrician 1 helps maintain, repair, and install electrical systems that support Wernersville State Hospital’s daily operations. The role includes planning work, guiding others, and ensuring electrical tasks meet safety and quality standards. The position is full-time, 37.5 hours per week, scheduled Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, with a 30-minute lunch. Overtime and travel may be required as operationally necessary. The position is onsite and does not offer telework. A motor vehicle license is required. A conditional offer requires a medical examination and satisfactory criminal history reports, including Pennsylvania State Police and FBI clearances.

Requirements

Successful completion of the Electrician Trainee program (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or four years of experience installing, repairing, and maintaining electrical systems, components, and equipment; or an equivalent combination of experience and training.
Possession of an active motor vehicle license.
Meet the Pennsylvania residency requirement.
Ability to perform essential job functions.

Responsibilities

Determine resources and methods for electrical installation, repair, and maintenance projects.
Inspect structures, plan work sequences, and identify placement of electrical components.
Guide and advise electricians and trainees on complex issues and unexpected conditions.
Diagnose electrical problems, including those involving systems connected to building automation software.
Repair and maintain electrical equipment, fixtures, distribution systems, and related components.
Update drawings and records, and document work on work orders and maintenance forms.
