About The Position

The Mechanic Supervisor oversees garage and grounds functions that support transportation, repairs, deliveries, and upkeep of the Wernersville State Hospital campus. The role supervises technical work, manages schedules, and ensures safe and efficient operations across multiple service areas. Responsibilities include fleet maintenance, coordinating food, laundry, and supply pickups and deliveries, directing grounds upkeep, monitoring service contracts and fuel use, maintaining inventory records, and inspecting staff and contractor work for quality.

This is a full-time position working 37.5 hours per week, ordinarily Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM with a 30-minute lunch. The schedule may change based on operational needs. Overtime and travel may be required as needed. Telework is not available.

Requirements

• Four years of journey-level mechanical experience diagnosing and repairing automobiles, heavy trucks, or construction equipment, or an equivalent combination of experience and training.
• Possess an active Pennsylvania driver's license.
• Possess an active Pennsylvania Class 1 Inspection Mechanic Certification.
• Meet the Pennsylvania residency requirement.
• Be able to perform the essential job functions.
• A conditional offer requires a medical examination and satisfactory criminal history reports, including Pennsylvania State Police and FBI clearances.

Responsibilities

• Oversee repairs, inspections, and preventive maintenance for hospital vehicles, equipment, and tools.
• Manage schedules for food, laundry, and supply pickups and deliveries.
• Direct mowing, trimming, snow removal, and street and parking lot upkeep.
• Evaluate service contracts and track fuel use to meet agency requirements.
• Maintain detailed records of tires, parts, and materials to ensure proper stock levels.
• Inspect work in progress and completed work performed by staff and contractors to ensure quality standards.
