Electrical Engineer II - Precon/Design Phase

Mortenson•Robbinsdale, MN
•$91,700 - $123,800

About The Position

Mortenson is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join its Power Delivery Design Phase (Pre-Construction) team. The role owns the electrical scope of a project from initial customer contact through handoff to the Operations Electrical team, spanning proposals, estimating, contracting, and design coordination. Hiring level is determined based on experience, and team members work across the full breadth of the pre-construction process rather than in narrow specialty lanes. This is a high-visibility, single-point-of-contact role working directly with customers, Precon Managers, trade partners, suppliers, legal, and senior leadership across an approximately 18-month pre-construction lifecycle. The position is based in, or requires the ability to relocate to, the greater Twin Cities area. The base pay range is $91,700–$123,800, with higher ranges for certain office locations: Denver and Chicago (5% higher), Seattle and Portland (10% higher), and Washington, D.C. (12.5% higher). Pay within the range depends on knowledge, skills, experience, and internal equity. The position is eligible for Mortenson’s incentive plan. Visa sponsorship is not offered; applicants must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without employment visa sponsorship.

  • Comfort working directly with a wide range of customer types, including internal, external, and partner organizations.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills; the role regularly interfaces with customers, land owners, legal, and senior leadership.
  • Ability to balance multiple concurrent workstreams across an approximately 18-month pre-construction cycle.

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without employment visa sponsorship.
