About The Position

The EPG Rental Technician services, diagnoses, and repairs electric power generation rental equipment—including power, temperature control, air, pumps, and used equipment—at Carter facilities or customer locations. The role supports rental equipment in the field as needed and promotes a positive customer experience while upholding Carter Machinery’s values of Integrity, Commitment, Excellence, and Teamwork. The position is based in Manassas, Virginia, and works a first shift. Starting compensation is $30.45–$44.40 per hour, with a $2,000 sign-on bonus offered to eligible new hires. Candidates may need to work additional hours and travel out of town, including internationally, to meet customer needs.

Requirements

• Thorough electrical knowledge and understanding of gensets, air compressors, fuel tanks, and pumps.
• Ability to test batteries, fuel tanks, and gensets, including load banking.
• Good troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to work well in a team environment and communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
• Strong organization and workload-prioritization skills, with a focus on excellent customer service.
• Ability to work with limited supervision.
• Willingness to work additional hours as required and travel out of town, including out of the country, to meet customer demands.
• Experience using and applying electronic software.
• Excellent driving record and ability to obtain a CDL and/or DOT certification.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Ability to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and talk or hear; frequent sitting; and regularly lift and/or move up to 70 pounds.
• Close, distance, and peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience diagnosing and troubleshooting engine failures and performing mechanical repairs to electrical generator systems and related equipment.

Responsibilities

• Service, diagnose, and repair EPG rental equipment, including power, temperature control, air, pumps, and used equipment.
• Work at Carter facilities or customer facilities, and provide field support for PSD rental equipment as needed.
• Test batteries, fuel tanks, and gensets, including load banking.
