About The Position

The EPG Rental Technician services, diagnoses, and repairs electric power generation rental equipment—including power, temperature-control, air, pump, and used equipment—at Carter or customer facilities. The role may involve independent field work supporting rental equipment, customer service, emergency service requests, additional hours, and travel out of town or out of the country. Candidates should have a thorough understanding of generators, air compressors, fuel tanks, and pumps, along with advanced troubleshooting skills. The role also involves performing product improvement plans on generators, air compressors, fuel tanks, pumps, UPS systems, and paralleling equipment.

The technician is expected to promote a positive customer experience and uphold Carter Machinery’s values of Integrity, Commitment, Excellence, and Teamwork. The position is based in Elkridge, Maryland, and is a first-shift role. The stated starting compensation range is $30.45–$44.40 per hour. A $2,000 sign-on bonus is offered to eligible new hires; restrictions may apply.

Requirements

• Thorough understanding of generators, air compressors, fuel tanks, and pumps.
• Advanced troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to work well in a team environment.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Well organized, with the ability to prioritize workload while providing excellent customer service.
• Experience using and applying electronic software.
• Excellent driving record and ability to obtain a CDL and/or DOT certification.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position, including lifting and/or moving up to 70 pounds.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience with UPS systems and paralleling equipment.
• Experience diagnosing and troubleshooting engine failures.
• Experience performing mechanical repairs to electrical generator systems and related equipment.

Responsibilities

• Service, diagnose, and repair EPG rental equipment for power, temperature control, air, pumps, and used equipment at Carter or customer facilities.
• Perform product improvement plans on generators, air compressors, fuel tanks, pumps, UPS systems, and paralleling equipment.
• Work independently in the field as needed to support rental equipment.
• Provide after-hours emergency service for customers, available 24/7/365.
• Work additional hours and travel out of town, including out of the country, to meet customer demands.
