About The Position

Brock University is seeking an Education Instructor for the EDUC 4P39 course, Teaching French in Ontario Schools, for the Fall 2026 term. This appointment is from September 9, 2026, to January 4, 2027. The instructor will be responsible for student contact and non-contact time, including preparing lecture material, consulting with students, marking assignments, holding office hours, and managing teaching assistants. The role requires using a Brock email address for all communications and completing a compulsory online tutorial prior to the first class. Commitment to responsible time management and availability for individual student consultations are essential.

Requirements

  • Doctoral Degree (PhD, EdD) in French Education, Applied Linguistics, Second Language Education or a related discipline
  • Experience teaching French as a second language methodology at the undergraduate university level
  • Demonstrated expertise in second language pedagogy, the Ontario FSL curriculum, and experience teaching core and/or immersion French in elementary and/or secondary schools
  • Near-native fluency in spoken and written French is required
  • Teaching documentation: evidence of teaching competence at the undergraduate university level, official student and peer evaluations; teaching dossier; and/or references
  • Skills related to the incorporation of web-based pedagogical techniques, materials and resources in the teaching of the course, as required
  • Competence in the use of email, Brightspace/D2L, internet, common office software (e.g. Word, Excel) and multi-media equipment
