About The Position

Brock University is seeking an Education Instructor for the EDUC 3P66 course, "Education for Personal Change," in the Department of Educational Studies. This is a part-time position for the Fall 2026 academic term, running from September 9, 2026, to January 4, 2027. The instructor will be responsible for delivering course content, student consultation, marking, and administration. Requirements

  • Doctoral Degree (PhD, EdD) in Educational Psychology, Counselling Psychology, Holistic Education, Human Development or a related discipline.
  • Experience teaching personal growth and education, self and learning and education for human development courses at the undergraduate level.
  • Demonstrated expertise in transformative educational practices, mindfulness and contemplative pedagogy, culturally responsive approaches to personal development, and the ability to connect education with personal growth and action.
  • Teaching documentation: evidence of teaching competence at the undergraduate university level, official student and peer evaluations; teaching dossier; and/or references.
  • Ability to work independently without immediate direct supervision.
  • Skills related to the incorporation of web-based pedagogical techniques, materials and resources in the teaching of the course, as required.
  • Competence in the use of email, Brightspace/D2L, internet, common office software (e.g. Word, Excel) and multi-media equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Student contact time and non-contact time, including in-person, blended, online or other teaching formats.
  • Preparation of lecture material, student consultation, marking or grading, holding office hours, managing and meeting with teaching assistants, and course administration.
  • Use of a provided Brock email address for all Brock-related communications.
  • Complete the compulsory Brock instructor online tutorial prior to the first class.
  • Commitment to responsible time management (e.g. course structuring, punctuality for lectures).
  • Available for individual consultation with students (e.g. office hours 1.5 hours per week).
  • Active participation in curriculum development.
  • Sharing of responsibilities in careful test preparation.
  • Student assessment.
  • Prompt and accurate marking.
