About The Position

Brock University is seeking an Education Instructor for the course EDUC 3P65, 'Education for Social Change,' within the Department of Educational Studies. This appointment is for the Fall 2026 term, from September 9, 2026, to January 4, 2027. The instructor will be responsible for delivering course content, including in-person, blended, or online formats, and will engage in non-classroom work such as preparing lecture materials, consulting with students, marking assignments, holding office hours, managing teaching assistants, and course administration. The instructor must use a Brock email address for all communications and complete a compulsory online tutorial prior to the first class. Commitment to responsible time management, including course structuring and punctuality, is expected. The instructor will also be available for individual student consultations, with 1.5 hours per week dedicated to office hours.

Requirements

  • Doctoral Degree (PhD, EdD) in Educational Studies, Critical Pedagogy, Social Justice Education, Curriculum Studies, Sociology of Education or a related discipline
  • Experience teaching social justice education and critical pedagogy courses at the undergraduate level
  • Demonstrated expertise in transformative educational practices, critical and transformative educational theory and the ability to connect education with social issues and action
  • Teaching documentation: evidence of teaching competence at the undergraduate university level, official student and peer evaluations; teaching dossier; and/or references.
  • Ability to work independently without immediate direct supervision.
  • Skills related to the incorporation of web-based pedagogical techniques, materials and resources in the teaching of the course, as required.
  • Competence in the use of email, Brightspace/D2L, internet, common office software (e.g. Word, Excel) and multi-media equipment.
