About The Position

Brock University is seeking an Education Instructor for the course EDUC 2P65, titled 'Teaching for Change: Equity, diversity and inclusion in education'. This appointment is for the Fall term, from September 9, 2026, to January 4, 2027. The instructor will be responsible for student contact and non-contact time, including preparing lecture material, consulting with students, marking assignments, holding office hours, managing teaching assistants, and course administration. All Brock-related communications must be conducted through a provided Brock email address. A compulsory online instructor tutorial must be completed prior to the first class. The instructor is expected to manage their time responsibly, including structuring the course and being punctual for lectures. Availability for individual student consultations (1.5 hours per week) is also required.

Requirements

  • Doctoral Degree (PhD, EdD) in Educational Studies, Curriculum Studies, Social Justice Education, Critical Pedagogy, Sociology of Education or a related discipline
  • Experience teaching courses on equity, diversity and inclusion to undergraduate students in a university setting
  • Demonstrated expertise in equity and inclusion in schooling, anti-racist education, culturally responsive pedagogy, intersectionality, decolonization and human rights and education policy
  • Teaching documentation: evidence of teaching competence at the undergraduate university level, official student and peer evaluations; teaching dossier; and/or references.
  • Ability to work independently without immediate direct supervision.
  • Skills related to the incorporation of web-based pedagogical techniques, materials and resources in the teaching of the course, as required.
  • Competence in the use of email, Brightspace/D2L, internet, common office software (e.g. Word, Excel) and multi-media equipment.
