About The Position

The ED Registration Specialist performs outpatient and inpatient registration functions, insurance verification, and cash collections for the University of Toledo Medical Center while providing excellent customer satisfaction. The role strives to sustain a courteous and caring impression for patients and visitors, communicates effectively to maximize patient flow and customer relations, and ensures financial policies and requirements are met while providing caring access. The specialist performs complete and accurate registration and admission functions to maximize reimbursement and provide timely, accurate patient information to other providers and users of patient data. This is a highly skilled, fully cross-functional role.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous customer service experience.
• Working knowledge of computers in a Windows-based environment, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, and proficiency using a computer keyboard.
• Ability to work with minimum supervision and follow written, oral, or diagram-based instructions.
• Ability to develop and maintain professional, service-oriented working relationships with patients, families, physicians, nurses, coworkers, supervisors, and others.
• Ability to provide excellent customer satisfaction when presenting information and responding to questions.
• Ability to handle confrontation and stressful working environments while maintaining excellent customer service.
• Ability to analyze data and calculate figures and amounts using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; applicants may be tested.
