About The Position

The ED Registration Specialist performs outpatient and inpatient registration functions, verifies insurance, and collects payments for the University of Toledo Medical Center while providing excellent customer service to patients and visitors. The role supports patient flow and customer relations, ensures financial policies and requirements are met, and completes accurate registration and admission functions to maximize reimbursement and provide timely, accurate patient information to providers and other users of patient data. This is a highly skilled, fully cross-functional position.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous customer service experience.
• Working knowledge of computers in a Windows-based environment, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Ability to use a computer keyboard proficiently.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and follow written, oral, or diagram-based instructions.
• Ability to develop and maintain professional, service-oriented working relationships with patients, families, physicians, nurses, coworkers, supervisors, and others.
• Ability to provide excellent customer service when presenting information and responding to questions from staff, patients, and the general public.
• Ability to handle confrontation and stressful working conditions while maintaining excellent customer service.
• Ability to analyze data and perform arithmetic calculations involving discounts, interest, percentages, whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
