About The Position

The Heavy Cleaner is the primary position, responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of public and non-public areas according to casino standards. When needed, the employee fills the secondary EVS Shift Supervisor position, assisting with management of the Environmental Services department on an assigned shift. Duties must be performed in accordance with Seneca Gaming Corporation policies and procedures, Internal Control Standards, and objectives. The role includes cleaning casino, hotel, spa/salon, back-of-house, restaurant, public-access, and catering/banquet areas; operating cleaning equipment; and carrying out individual and team assignments. When working as a shift supervisor, the employee helps oversee EVS operations, train staff, maintain sanitation standards, inspect facilities, and monitor supplies. The work operates on a schedule determined by a 24-hour schedule.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years old upon employment.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Six months of satisfactory experience as a Heavy Cleaner required.
Must be familiar with the proper use of cleaning equipment and chemicals.
Knowledge of operating buffers, burnishers, carpet-cleaning machines, escalator-cleaning machines, and other cleaning equipment.
Excellent communication skills.
Ability to write routine correspondence and speak effectively to the public, employees, and customers.
Ability to interact effectively with customers and employees and resolve problems or conflicts diplomatically and tactfully.
Ability to stand, walk, and move through all casino areas, and to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
Ability to work with cleaning chemicals and agents and maintain physical stamina and a proper mental attitude in a fast-paced environment.
Must be able to work in an environment where smoking is permitted.

Responsibilities

Maintain cleanliness in casino, hotel lobby, spa/salon, back-of-house, restaurant, public-access, and catering/banquet areas.
Operate buffers, burnishers, carpet-cleaning machines, escalator-cleaning machines, and other cleaning equipment.
Complete individual assignments and work as part of a group.
Use cleaning chemicals and agents appropriately.
Assist with other projects as directed, including light-cleaning duties such as restroom and floor attendant work when necessary.
Follow information-security policies and procedures, including the Seneca Gaming Corporation Acceptable Use Policy.
Provide professional, friendly customer service and maintain a professional work environment with supervisors, managers, and staff.
Meet attendance guidelines and comply with regulatory, departmental, and company policies.
Complete required SGC training programs within nine months of employment.
Attend necessary meetings.
When serving as EVS Shift Supervisor, oversee Environmental Services operations on the assigned shift.
Assist with instruction and training of EVS staff.
Maintain high cleanliness and sanitation standards.
Use checklists and visual inspections to monitor facility appearance.
Monitor inventory and supplies and recommend purchases to the supervisor.
