About The Position

The Dryer Feeder keeps the veneer dryer at least 97% full of quality veneer by feeding sheets into the dryer while maintaining safety and quality standards. The worker moves back and forth on a platform in front of stacks of green veneer and keeps pace with the dryer. Work is performed according to the Job Hazard Analysis, Standard Operating Procedures, and supervisor direction to support safe and efficient plant operations. The role includes feeding and aligning veneer sheets, removing overlaps and wane sheets, operating controls to move veneer onto a scissors platform, and responding to jams or blockages using required lockout/tagout procedures. The Dryer Feeder may rotate or cross-train in other positions, assist co-workers or maintenance personnel with basic maintenance and plug-ups, perform weekly machine maintenance and cleanings, clean the work area during downtime and shift changes, and communicate by radio when the dryer is down. The employee generally works with another puller and receives little supervision after training. The position works 8-hour shifts, with two 10-minute breaks and a 20-minute lunch. Available schedules listed are day, swing, and graveyard shifts. The work environment is primarily indoors, with some outdoor work, machine noise, occasional water mist, and temperatures ranging from 10°F to 105°F. The employee works on a slightly elevated platform and must use required personal protective equipment.
