The Driver safely and efficiently transports product from the warehouse to customers in a tractor-trailer and delivers and unloads it according to customer invoices and company standards. The role also handles customer returns and damaged goods, backhauls and line hauls, required paperwork, food safety, vehicle and equipment care, and customer service. Drivers follow assigned routes and work methods, communicate delivery or safety issues to management, and work assigned schedules with schedule adjustments as needed to meet customer needs. The position usually follows an overnight schedule. Weekends, holidays, overtime, on-call availability, and varying start times are required to meet customer needs. The work may involve varying weather conditions, wet, hot, cold, or humid environments, moving mechanical parts, confined spaces, and occasional exposure to heights or airborne particles. Physical duties include lifting product by hand, moving loads with a two-wheeled hand cart, climbing in and out of the tractor and trailer, and bending, twisting, reaching, loading, and unloading.
