About The Position

The Dockworker sorts and handles freight moving in and out of over-the-road equipment, containers, city trailers, and straight trucks. The position operates forklifts and pallet jacks to load and unload freight. It is part time, Monday through Friday, with hours from 4:00 p.m. until approximately 8:30 or 9:30 p.m. The pay rate is $25.50–$29.25 per hour, based on experience.

Requirements

• Ability to lift and move objects of various shapes, sizes, and weights.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or GED.
• Warehouse, freight, dock, forklift, or pallet jack experience.
• Forklift certification or hazmat training.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload trailers using forklifts, pallet jacks, and other equipment while complying with state, federal, and Department of Transportation regulations.
• Operate dock tools to secure freight properly, including straps, bars, air bags, cardboard, and dunnage.
• Load, recoup, rewrap, and stack freight as needed.
• Read labels to verify shipments and properly secure freight for loading and unloading.
• Follow established bill and quality-control procedures to support timely, claims-free, and cost-efficient shipments.
• Log, report, and process freight shortages and damages.
• Promote and maintain a safe and clean work environment.
