About The Position

This position provides expert professional optical care and assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates patients’ eye care needs in accordance with prescriptions written by an ophthalmologist or optometrist. The role applies knowledge of basic eye care principles, practices, ethics, and concepts; participates in the organization and management of the practitioner’s practice; and maintains positive relationships with patients, family members, visitors, and fellow employees.

Requirements

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, infection control, and safety.
• Adaptability.
• Accuracy in maintaining medical records.
• Strong computer skills.
• Management skills emphasizing mentoring, training, and teamwork.
• Ability to communicate with patients and staff through talking and hearing.
• Fluency in reading, speaking, and writing English.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patients’ eye care needs according to prescriptions written by an ophthalmologist or optometrist.
• Recommend frames, lenses, and coatings based on patients’ age, occupation, facial characteristics, and prescriptions.
• Participate in the organization and management of the practitioner’s practice.
• Maintain accurate medical records.
• Maintain positive relationships with patients, family members, visitors, and fellow employees.
• Apply knowledge of basic eye care principles, practices, ethics, and concepts.
• Contribute to mentoring, training, and teamwork.
