About The Position
The Dispatcher coordinates and monitors Patient Transportation services through timely, accurate dispatch and management of customer transportation requests. The position directs transport activity, monitors task completion, and supports efficient service in accordance with departmental standards, priorities, and patient appointments. It also serves as a liaison between Patient Transportation and other departments, and may transport patients when necessary.
Requirements
- Prior customer service experience is required.
Responsibilities
- Provide attentive, detail-oriented customer service.
- Apply knowledge of basic patient transport concepts, infection control practices, and proper body mechanics.
- Determine, explain, and develop dispatcher logic and transporter activities.
- Transport patients when necessary.
- Direct transport operations and transporter activity, ensuring tasks are completed on time.
- Monitor procedures for task availability and completion, and follow up on service and operational issues.
- Ensure transportation requests are addressed efficiently and on time according to departmental standards, priorities, and patient appointments.
- Serve as a liaison between Patient Transportation and other departments.
- Assign, collect, and distribute pagers, and monitor daily sign-in and sign-out procedures.
- Develop positive customer service relationships with patients, their family members, visitors, and staff.
- Ensure accurate, timely dispatch of transport requests and maximize staff productivity.
- Resolve complaints from patients, visitors, staff, or employees and recommend solutions for ongoing or recurring issues.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
