DISPATCHER (FULL TIME)
About The Position
The Dispatcher coordinates and monitors Patient Transportation service activities through timely, accurate dispatch and management of customer transportation requests. The role directs transporters and the transport function, monitors task completion, and helps ensure service requests are handled efficiently according to departmental standards, priorities, and patient appointments. The Dispatcher also serves as a liaison between Patient Transportation and other departments, supports customer service, and transports patients when necessary. This is a full-time, second-shift position at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 2:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. The fixed pay rate is $17.50 per hour. Prior dispatcher experience is preferred, but the employer is willing to train.

Responsibilities
- Provide attentive, quality customer service.
- Apply knowledge of basic patient transport concepts, infection control practices, and proper body mechanics.
- Determine, explain, and develop dispatcher logic and transporter activities; transport patients when necessary.
- Direct transport operations and transporter activity, ensuring tasks are completed on time.
- Monitor procedures related to task availability and completion, and follow up on service and operational issues.
- Ensure transportation requests are handled efficiently and in a timely manner according to departmental standards, priorities, and patient appointments.
- Serve as a liaison between Patient Transportation and other departments.
- Assign, collect, and distribute pagers; monitor daily sign-in and sign-out procedures.
- Build positive customer service relationships with patients, patient family members, visitors, and staff.
- Ensure accurate, timely dispatch of transport requests and maximize staff productivity.
- Resolve complaints involving patients, visitors, staff, or employees and recommend solutions for ongoing or recurring issues.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
