About The Position

The Dismantling Assistant performs day-to-day activities in the Processing Department in accordance with applicable federal, state/provincial, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations. Under the direction of the Production Manager, the role helps ensure automobiles are dismantled safely, efficiently, and properly. The position is not responsible for supervising employees. The assistant supports and learns from dismantlers, including assisting with vehicle dismantling and learning how to dismantle, tag, and store parts. The role may also work with Engine Dismantlers to learn engine dismantling. Work involves physical activity, potential exposure to hazardous conditions and equipment, and the regular possible use of personal protective equipment. Periodic travel, including overnight stays, may be required depending on position requirements.

Requirements

Background in body repair, mechanical work, or previous dismantling experience.
May be required to have a personal set of tools as needed to carry out duties.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Basic computer skills.
Ability to communicate basic messages orally and write brief messages or keep simple records.
Ability to follow clear directions, procedures, and standard guidelines provided by a supervisor or manager.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

Assist the Dismantler/Trainer with dismantling vehicles.
Learn and complete the system for dismantling, tagging, and storing all parts.
Work with Engine Dismantlers as needed to learn engine dismantling.
Comply with all safety standards and requirements to help ensure a safe, hazard-free workplace.
Assume other duties as assigned.
