About The Position
Guardian Veterinary Specialists is hiring Veterinary Assistants for its Surgery, Neurology, and ICU/ER departments. Full-time and part-time opportunities are available at the independent, privately owned specialty and emergency hospital in Brewster, New York. The role supports veterinarians and licensed veterinary technicians in delivering compassionate, high-quality patient care. Candidates must have prior veterinary assistant experience and should bring a professional, positive demeanor, strong communication skills, attention to detail, adaptability, and a collaborative work ethic. Specialty or emergency experience is preferred.
Requirements
- Prior veterinary assistant experience.
- Comfort handling and restraining animals and assisting with patient care and veterinary procedures.
- Dependable, proactive, and collaborative approach, with a genuine passion for animal care.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and a professional, compassionate approach to client service.
- Excellent attention to detail, adaptability, and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

- Specialty or emergency veterinary experience.
Responsibilities
- Safely handle and restrain animals, assist with treatments, and prioritize patient comfort and safety.
- Assist veterinarians and licensed veterinary technicians with examinations, procedures, and daily patient care.
- Prepare equipment and treatment areas, assist with diagnostic procedures, and maintain a clean, organized clinical environment.
- Provide compassionate support to clients, answer questions within the scope of the role, and help create a welcoming experience for pets and their families.
- Anticipate team needs, stay organized in a fast-paced environment, and collaborate to support smooth daily hospital operations.
