About The Position

The Automotive Dismantling Assistant performs day-to-day activities in the Processing Department in accordance with applicable federal, state/provincial, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations. Under the direction of the Production Manager, the role helps ensure automobiles are dismantled safely, efficiently, and properly. The employee assists experienced dismantlers, learns processes for dismantling, tagging, and storing parts, and may work with Engine Dismantlers to learn engine dismantling. This position does not supervise employees.

Requirements

Background in body repair, mechanical work, or previous dismantling experience.
May be required to have a personal set of tools as needed to carry out duties.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Basic computer skills.
Ability to communicate basic messages orally, write brief messages, and keep simple records.
Ability to follow clear directions and procedures to solve routine, repetitive problems.
Ability to follow standard procedures without decision-making and use guidance provided by a supervisor or manager.
Ability to work according to priorities assigned by a supervisor or manager.
Ability to perform the physical demands of the role, including lifting up to 75 pounds.
Ability to work in cramped spaces or underneath vehicles, including in awkward positions, and to regularly wear personal protective equipment.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

Assist the Dismantler/Trainer with dismantling vehicles.
Learn and complete the system for dismantling, tagging, and storing all parts.
Work with Engine Dismantlers as needed to learn engine dismantling.
Comply with safety standards and requirements to help ensure a safe, hazard-free workplace.
Assume other duties as assigned.
