About The Position

Thomas Cuisine is hiring a full-time Dishwasher for the College Café at West Valley College in Saratoga, California. The role supports daily kitchen operations by cleaning and sanitizing dishes, utensils, equipment, and kitchen areas, and by helping the dining team provide food and service to students, faculty, and guests. The position pays $19 per hour and is scheduled Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. The Dishwasher also supports kitchen organization, stocking, basic food preparation, and service during peak hours. The role requires following food safety and sanitation procedures and monitoring dishwashing equipment and supplies. The work involves prolonged standing, lifting trays, repetitive tasks, and exposure to typical kitchen conditions, including moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, and moderate noise. Occasional exposure to wet or humid conditions, extreme temperatures, and vibration may occur. Reasonable accommodations are available for individuals with disabilities. Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and stand for extended periods.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.
Team-oriented approach and good communication skills.
ServSafe® Certification and a State Food Handlers Card.
Ability to pass a criminal background check and drug screen.
Physical stamina to stand for long periods, lift trays, and perform repetitive tasks.

Nice To Haves

Previous experience in a kitchen or hospitality setting is preferred but not required.
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Responsibilities

Operate dishwashing equipment to clean and sanitize dishes, glassware, utensils, and kitchen tools.
Maintain cleanliness of kitchen areas, including floors, trash bins, and food preparation surfaces.
Empty the box bin when needed.
Set up and clear the pot-washing area, including the three-compartment sink.
Check the tray belt and clear it if needed.
Check and record wash and rinse temperatures.
Wash soiled items.
Air-dry washable equipment on racks and follow handwashing procedures when switching between dirty and clean equipment.
Sort and stack clean equipment, then carry or cart it to the appropriate storage areas.
Wash front-of-house garbage can lids through the dish machine.
Sanitize the stainless-steel area, tray line, and tray belt.
Wash floor mats and re-rack them on the mat holder.
Run dish machine filters through the machine.
Shut down and drain the dish machine; clean its jets and screen and rinse it inside and out using the hose with hot-water connection.
Remove trash and cardboard to the dumpster.
Restock clean items in appropriate locations for kitchen and service staff.
Monitor and report equipment malfunctions or supply shortages.
Assist with basic food preparation and stocking as needed.
Follow food safety and sanitation guidelines.
Support overall kitchen efficiency during peak service hours.
Perform other duties as assigned.
