About The Position

The Director of Wellness & Health Coaching provides leadership for the strategy, operations, and fiscal oversight of wellness and health coaching services at the OSU Health Plan. The role advances population health and well-being through strategic planning, clinical and lifestyle behavior-change program development, staff leadership, and performance management. The Director uses clinical, claims, and engagement data to identify population health needs, develop targeted interventions, measure outcomes, and drive continuous improvement.

The Director collaborates with OSU Health Plan, University Human Resources, Your Plan for Health (YP4H), Wexner Medical Center, Buckeye Wellness, and Gabbe Health & Well-Being partners. Programs focus on preventive care, chronic disease management, behavioral health, health equity, health literacy, and whole-person well-being. The position promotes innovation, value-based care, member engagement, improved health outcomes, and sustainable population health results while supporting a healthy workplace culture for a multigenerational workforce in onsite and remote workspaces.

The role oversees 26–32 nurses, seven health coaches, six direct reports, and a budget of more than $2 million. It applies clinical and business expertise to operate services efficiently, advance OSU Health Plan priorities, and promote High Reliable Organization principles.

Requirements

• At least 7 years of experience in disease care management, healthcare business management, and wellness operations, including wellness education.
• Prior management experience.
• Experience leading operations to achieve national clinical standards.
• Excellent critical-thinking, problem-solving, and business negotiation skills.
• Experience with evidence-based improvement models and a track record of implementing Lean operational improvements.
• Knowledge of nutrition, exercise, stress management, tobacco-cessation interventions, chronic-condition management, and health-coaching models.
• Proficiency in public presentations, Microsoft Office, and other database and computer skills.
• Strong analytical skills, including the ability to use data to drive process improvement and management.
• Strong leadership traits and a track record in innovative operational programming.
• Bachelor’s degree in nursing.
• Current Ohio RN license.
• Valid Ohio driver license.
