Health & Wellness Director
About The Position
The Plymouth YMCA is seeking an energetic, mission-driven Health & Wellness Director to lead all aspects of its wellness operation. The role oversees personal training, group exercise, healthy living initiatives, and member engagement, with the opportunity to shape the wellness experience for YMCA members. The ideal candidate is a collaborative leader with vision, enthusiasm, business acumen, and a commitment to the YMCA's core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility. The director leads and supervises the Health & Wellness Department, manages and coordinates a schedule of more than 80 weekly group exercise classes, and manages the member app. The position establishes departmental goals aligned with agency goals and vision, develops new programs and strategies, ensures effective program operations and exceptional customer service, and works to increase revenue and engagement. The director also manages the department budget and team, and follows fiscal policies and procedures.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree strongly preferred.
- CPR/AED certifications required.
- Ability to work and thrive as part of a cohesive team.
- Strong interpersonal, customer service, and networking skills.
- Ability to lift and move heavy equipment and clean when necessary.
- Occasional early mornings, late nights, and weekends.
- Excellent written communication skills.
- Proficiency in all Microsoft Office programs.
Nice To Haves
- Experience working in the health and wellness field preferred.
- At least 5 years of supervisory experience preferred.
Responsibilities
- Direct and supervise the Health & Wellness Department, including group exercise classes, personal training, and healthy living programming.
- Manage and coordinate the group exercise schedule of more than 80 classes weekly.
- Manage the member app.
- Establish annual departmental goals in the context of agency goals and vision, and ensure direct reports attain those goals.
- Develop and recommend new programs, processes, partnerships, strategies, and approaches.
- Ensure smooth and effective program operations and exceptional customer service.
- Increase revenue and engagement across health and wellness areas.
- Recruit, hire, train, evaluate, and supervise the health and wellness team.
- Formulate and manage the Health & Wellness budget to meet or exceed budgeted numbers.
- Recommend solutions to maximize efficiency and adhere to fiscal policies and procedures.
