About The Position

The Plymouth YMCA is seeking an energetic, mission-driven Health & Wellness Director to lead all aspects of its wellness operation, including personal training, group exercise, healthy living initiatives, and member engagement. The director will shape the wellness experience for YMCA members by leading the department, developing programs, building relationships, and fostering a welcoming environment aligned with the YMCA’s core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility.

The role includes overseeing the Health & Wellness Department and its team, coordinating a schedule of more than 80 weekly group exercise classes, managing the member app, establishing and achieving departmental goals, and developing programs and partnerships. The director is also responsible for delivering effective operations and customer service, increasing revenue and engagement, and managing the department budget in accordance with fiscal policies and procedures.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree required; a master’s degree is strongly preferred.
• CPR/AED certifications required.
• Ability to work and thrive as part of a cohesive team.
• Strong interpersonal, customer service, and networking skills.
• Ability to lift and move heavy equipment and clean when necessary.
• Excellent written communication skills.
• Proficiency in all Microsoft Office programs.

Nice To Haves

• Experience working in the health and wellness field preferred.
• At least five years of supervisory experience preferred.
• Master’s degree strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Direct leadership and supervision of the Health & Wellness Department, including group exercise classes, personal training, and healthy living programming.
• Manage and coordinate the schedule of more than 80 group exercise classes weekly.
• Manage the member app.
• Establish annual departmental goals in alignment with agency goals and vision, and ensure direct reports achieve those goals.
• Develop and recommend new programs, processes, partnerships, strategies, and approaches.
• Ensure smooth and effective program operations and exceptional customer service.
• Increase revenue and engagement across health and wellness areas.
• Recruit, hire, train, evaluate, and supervise the health and wellness team.
• Formulate and manage the Health & Wellness budget to meet or exceed budgeted numbers.
• Recommend solutions to maximize efficiency and adhere to fiscal policies and procedures.
