About The Position

The Director, Transformation & Performance Management leads RJW’s highest-priority strategic initiatives, enterprise performance-management system, and adoption of operational change across the Logistics network. Reporting to the VP Planning & Performance Management, the Director translates executive priorities into initiatives that are delivered, adopted, and measured, including large-scale operating-process changes and deployment of automation, robotics, and AI. The role leads two direct reports and partners with executive leadership, Operations, Technology, and Finance. Success is measured by realized financial and service benefits against approved business cases, on-time delivery of initiative milestones, sustained process adoption 90 days after go-live, and the share of the network operating on the performance-management system. The role is hybrid and requires regular presence at RJW facilities and headquarters, with remote and onsite time varying according to active initiatives. It involves meaningful time in warehouse, yard, dock, and other operational environments, as well as some travel between company locations. The employee may occasionally be exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, or airborne particles; noise levels range from quiet to moderately loud depending on location.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 8–10+ years of experience leading strategic, transformational, or operational improvement initiatives.
  • At least 3 years of people-leadership experience.
  • Familiarity with warehousing, logistics, transportation, or supply chain is required.
  • Track record of initiatives that were built, deployed, and sustained, rather than only recommended.
  • Strong analytical and problem-structuring skills, including the ability to take an undefined problem and drive it to a decision.
  • Financial fluency sufficient to build and defend business cases to executive and board audiences.
  • Executive presence and excellent written and verbal communication; ability to be credible on the warehouse floor and in the boardroom.
  • Ability to lead through influence across functions where outcomes depend on others.
  • Working knowledge of how automation, advanced analytics, and AI are applied in an operating environment, including where they may introduce risk rather than value.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree concentration in Business, Engineering, Supply Chain, Analytics, Economics, or Finance.
  • Advanced degree.
  • Experience leading an automation, robotics, WMS/WES, or comparable technology deployment from evaluation through go-live.
  • Experience in warehousing, logistics, transportation, or a broader 3PL environment.
  • Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, A3 thinking, or other structured continuous-improvement methods.
  • Background in management consulting, corporate strategy, analytics, or operations transformation.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with executive leadership to select, prioritize, and sequence initiatives against company goals, and report status, risks, and realized benefits to the executive team monthly.
  • Frame open-ended business problems as clear recommendations with defined scope, cost, benefit, and decision points.
  • Own the enterprise performance-management system through a direct report, including KPI definitions, scorecards, review cadence, and escalation-to-root-cause processes.
  • Extend the performance-management system to all sites and standardize it as a repeatable program.
  • Lead change adoption through a direct report, including SOP currency, training design, cutover and parallel-run readiness, and post-go-live adoption measurement.
  • Ensure initiatives meet adoption targets before closure and correct course when targets are not met.
  • Lead evaluation and deployment of technology solutions, from opportunity assessment and business case through vendor selection, solution design, go-live, and post-implementation ROI review, in partnership with Technology, Operations, and Finance.
  • Identify opportunities for AI and advanced analytics to create measurable operational value and lead pilots accordingly.
  • Prepare strategic-planning and board-level materials for the executive team.
  • Lead, coach, and develop direct reports, including goal setting, documentation, and mid-year and annual reviews.
