Gen II Fund Services•Boston, MA

About The Position

Gen II is hiring a founding Director of Product Management to establish and lead its Data, Integration and AI Platform product function. The role will define the product operating model and strategy for a platform connecting more than 40 systems across the fund administration technology estate, supporting data flows, integrations, analytics products, and data applications. The platform is evolving from an engineering-first, project-management approach to a technical product-led approach, while the company develops its AI capabilities and strategy. Initially, the Director will work hands-on across data and integration teams, setting up how demand is received, priorities are set, roadmaps are agreed, delivery is communicated, and platform value is measured. The Director will establish and operate these mechanisms, supplement the team directly while the capability is being built, and hire Product Managers to partner with data platform, integration, and AI platform teams. The role owns product strategy, demand intake, and prioritization for the Data and Integration Platform roadmap, including final prioritization authority. Engineering Directors determine technical execution and own delivery, service performance, and incident management. The Director will partner with platform steering committees, engineering and architecture leaders, other product leaders, and business stakeholders to align platform capabilities and AI investments with business needs. The position also serves as the senior product representative across operations, technology, risk, compliance, cybersecurity, privacy, and other stakeholder groups. The position offers a flexible hybrid schedule, with the employee expected to work in the office one to four days per week as needed. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States. The stated salary range is $180,000–$220,000, plus a discretionary bonus and comprehensive benefits; the actual offer depends on experience.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 10 or more years in product management or equivalent experience.
  • At least 3 years leading Product Managers or Business Analysts, evidenced in role history.
  • Substantial financial services experience; fund administration or private capital experience is preferred, with familiarity in fund structures, entity hierarchies, investor lifecycle, general ledger (GL), and net asset value (NAV).
  • Product ownership experience for a data platform, integration platform, or similar internal platform with business consumers.
  • Track record of establishing a product function, including designing and implementing intake, prioritization, and roadmap mechanisms.
  • Ability to maintain a prioritization position with senior engineering and business stakeholders while preserving working relationships.
  • Technical fluency sufficient to work credibly with engineering, including comfort with data models, integration patterns, and platform architecture, and the ability to challenge estimates without owning technical details.
  • Willingness to personally produce roadmaps, requirements, and business cases while the team is small.
  • Experience working across U.S. and UK/EU teams and time zones.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in executive discussions and engineering working sessions.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • Create product strategy that balances business and product needs with foundational reliability, reusability, velocity, and business value.
  • Set platform direction and priorities, partnering with engineering to execute while engineering leaders own technical decisions and delivery.
  • Build a high-performing team of Product Managers, Business Analysts, and related roles; provide hands-on support while the function is being established.
  • Own a single Data and Integration Platform roadmap and its final prioritization.
  • Establish product as the route for new platform work and withdraw informal demand channels that bypass the product process.
  • Work with engineering leadership on what is built and when, including declining requests where the business case does not hold, while respecting engineering ownership of effort, feasibility, and technical sequencing.
  • Support Product Managers accountable for cross-team delivery dates not owned by one engineering Director in isolation.
  • Define value and adoption measures for platform investments, distinct from engineering delivery and service measures.
  • Develop the AI platform strategy based on current capabilities, desired direction, use cases, sequencing, and value; hand it off to a Product Manager once hired.
  • Work with engineering and architecture to distinguish achievable capabilities from vendor positioning and set business expectations accordingly.
  • Apply AI tools to product work, including research synthesis, requirements drafting, options analysis, and documentation, while driving continuous improvement.
  • Represent product leadership across the business, including operations, application owners, technology, risk, compliance, cybersecurity, and privacy; own demand-side relationships.
  • Translate fund administration product needs into platform capabilities and explain platform capabilities in business-relevant terms.
