About The Position

The Director of Technology owns the company’s technology, including IT strategy, infrastructure, cybersecurity, business and field systems, data, and AI tools. This is a hands-on leadership role in a growing company. The Director sets direction with the executive team and also gets the work done directly or through managed service providers, ensuring office and field teams have reliable, secure tools that help them win and deliver work.

Requirements

• 10+ years in IT, with 5+ years leading IT for a small or mid-sized company.
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms, Microsoft 365, networking, and endpoint management.
• Strong cybersecurity background, including incident response and disaster recovery planning.
• Experience selecting, implementing, and integrating business systems such as ERP, CRM, and project management tools.
• Experience managing managed service providers, vendors, and IT budgets.
• Ability to explain technology clearly to non-technical leaders and field staff.
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in construction or another field-based industry.
• Experience with construction software such as Procore, Sage, or Viewpoint.
• Security certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or Security+.

Responsibilities

• Build a multi-year technology roadmap and own the IT budget, vendor contracts, and software licensing.
• Own networks, cloud services, devices, phones, email, and collaboration tools for office and job sites.
• Own the cybersecurity program, security awareness training, disaster recovery plans, and business continuity plans.
• Own the company’s core systems—including accounting/ERP, project management, estimating, scheduling, and CRM—and integrate them so data flows without re-entry.
• Create dashboards and lead the company’s use of AI and automation.
• Train office and field staff to get full value from company systems.
• Build and lead the IT team as the company grows, and manage managed service providers and technology vendors.
