About the position
2U is seeking an SEO Director to drive organic strategy and grow the organic footprint for lead generation and marketplace websites. The role involves developing and executing programmatic SEO strategies, managing a team of SEO professionals, analyzing website metrics, staying up-to-date with search engine algorithms, and collaborating with cross-functional teams. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in SEO, experience with e-commerce and lead generation sites, and excellent communication and management skills. Responsibilities
- Develop and execute programmatic SEO strategies and tactics to drive organic search performance across multiple websites and channels, including e-commerce sites and digital marketplaces.
- Manage and mentor a team of SEO professionals to ensure they are delivering high-quality work that meets business goals and objectives.
- Analyze and report on website traffic, engagement, and conversion metrics to measure the success of SEO efforts.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest search engine algorithms and best practices to ensure our websites are optimized for maximum visibility and performance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including content, social media, and paid search to ensure SEO is integrated into all digital marketing initiatives.
- Manage relationships with external agencies and vendors to ensure we are getting the most out of our SEO investments.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a business, data, or communications related field (graduate degree a plus)
- 7+ years of SEO/Organic search marketing experience
- 2+ years of management experience
- Experience with programmatic SEO strategies and tactics
- Experience with ecommerce and/or lead generation sites (bonus if in education space)
- Familiarity with leading a team with various levels of experience and expertise
- Excellent communication, presentation, writing, and research skills
- Proven track record of scalable SEO tactics
- Successful advocacy for organic search & inbound marketing
- Deep understanding of Google Analytics, data visualization tools (Tableau preferred), SEO platforms (Brightedge, Conductor, Searchmetrics), web analytics platforms (Google Analytics preferred), Google Adwords, HTML, and Search Console
- Strong attention to detail and love of process-building
- Ability to manage stakeholders and their needs
- Understanding of conversion rate optimization (CRO) and user experience techniques
- Familiarity with paid search marketing and how paid & organic search works together
- Experience creating client-facing reporting
- Ability to maintain a fun, casual, professional, and productive team atmosphere
- Comfortable working with ambiguous concepts and distilling them into sound deliverables
- Enthusiasm and ability to thrive in an atmosphere of constant change
- Ability to work remotely (priority given to candidates in the Washington-Baltimore metropolitan area)
